our process

9 steps to protecting your rough openings.

Install Homeflash Sloped sill system comes with integral 12” bib and interior continuity and air seal.

Airseal, 6%+ slope is achieved to drain moisture.

Install Bow-Tie membrane over vulnerable sill corners

Followed by a gusset membrane as shown in the image when sill only prepped.

One piece gusset detail when Homeflash HJS system is applied on jambs ( see Step #3).  HJS overlaps this gusset to provide full protection at corners and on entire side jambs.

Next cut a portion of jamb flash with adhesive backing.

Notch out top 2” so flashing projects above rough opening on the sides. Peel release tape on top edge and attach to top of jamb. Continue releasing tape and sealing the jamb system onto the full depth of both jambs.

Notch jamb flash allowing 8-10” to overlap with Sill Flash below.

Fold-back the factory-installed window flange seal and tack in a few places so it is out of the way during window installation

Fasten the jamb flash over the WRB with tacker stapler

Remove shim release tape at areas where non-decaying shims are to be attached

Position shim 2″ in from edge of rough opening and under vertical vinyl (mullions) on windows to provide support for

Opening is now ready for window installation.

Sealing of the “Flange flap “Can be done by the installer after the Window is fastened in place

After window is fastened in place, release paper can be removed and flange flap can be sealed over the window nailing flange.

Ensure you use a J- roller to pressure roll all peel and still membranes thoroughly.

Corners are protected from moisture entry.
Never seal or cover bottom flange. Moisture needs to drain out here.

Apply flash tape above window and onto substrate above ensuring tape covers vertical flashings.

Window is now ready for head flashing, and pre-applied WRB (Water resistant barrier) to be folded down over.

Door preparation Complete and ready for Door installation by others.

Homeflash jamb system For windows & doors cw fold-back-fold over Flange seal
